Life Coaching
I would recommend life coaching for you if you want to develop your creative energies, however, you are in a difficult (stuck, uncomfortable or painful) life situation which prevents you from moving forward. In such cases, first your general life problem needs to be solved, and you will be able to develop your creativity after that.
The classic topics of life coaching typically include:
- supporting a change of profession or workplace,
- clarifying life goals,
- exploring new paths,
- starting a business,
- managing personal life crises, handling dramatic life situations,
- managing interpersonal conflicts (e.g. with a family member, colleague, or partner),
- adapting to a new life situation or life stage and making use of the opportunities it brings (e.g. moving, changes in family circumstances, new work environment, retirement, changes in health condition),
- implementing lifestyle‑change plans (e.g. quitting harmful habits, developing a healthier lifestyle, changing one's daily routine),
- addressing emotional or psychological difficulties (e.g. lack of self‑confidence, stress).
Life coaching can take place as an individual, one‑on‑one session, or in the form of a group workshop. I provide life coaching both in person (in Budapest) and online.
Some Thoughts On Coaching
Coaching is a problem-solving method based on questioning techniques: during a coaching session, the coach asks the client specific questions that provide effective assistance in achieving the desired goal.
The goal of the coaching process may be to solve a specific problem or or to determine the path to achieving a given life goal or plan. Coaching helps individuals discover, recognize, and exploit their potentials, while also supporting their self-actualization.
There is an equal relationship between the coach and the client; the coach does not criticize or give advice, but provides helpful support as an external observer. The coach has no interest in the decisions and course of the other party's life, consequently, during the coaching process, the parties can communicate with complete honesty and openly share their feelings and thoughts with one another.
It is worth starting a coaching process when someone is in a life situation that one feels stagnant, unpleasant or unhappy, and wants to change this situation effectively within a short time. Coaching moves a person out of the stuck state, so it is also useful in cases when someone does not yet know what exactly they want to achieve, but feel that they want a change in their life as soon as possible. Setting appropriate goals requires self-knowledge, thus the coaching process indirectly develops self-knowledge.
Coaching serves the purpose of activating the energies inherent in a person in order to solve a given problem or achieve a designated goal. Hence coaching is not for those who only want to complain or passively let themselves be swept away by the flow; but coaching is for those who are ready to actively take action for change and development.
Coaching sessions can be performed individually or in groups, and since coaching requires intensive attention, an individual coaching session lasts 60-75 minutes, and a group coaching session lasts 90-120 minutes. It is not worth holding a coaching session longer than this, because it would not be effective. This period of time is enough to initiate deep, intensive changes in a person. (A workshop can be longer than this, as coaching can be supplemented with other supportive tools during a workshop.)
The advantage of individual coaching is the intensive attention that only you receive from the professional coach who is present, actively listening and asking questions. During individual coaching, the coach focuses solely on your problem and goals, thus it can be an effective, fast and straightforward way to achieve your goals.
The advantage of group coaching is that all participants help each other, so not only the coach asks questions, but all those present can ask each other, and the participants can react to each other, share thoughts, feelings and life experiences, and this sharing helps them mutually. At the same time, group coaching is a deep conversation that is honest and specific, so it is about a specific topic, a specific problem, or the achievement of a goal aimed by each participant. Group coaching also provides an opportunity to make new acquaintances with individuals sharing similar interests or similar life situations. You may stay in touch with each other later as well if you have any demand for it. Group coaching takes place in a small group, the number of participants is 3-6 people (and the coach).
